Edge and corner superconductivity in a two-dimensional topological model

چکیده
We consider a two-dimensional generalization of the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model which is known to possess non-trivial topological band structure. For this model, characterized by single parameter, hopping ratio $0 \leq r\leq 1$, inhomogeneous superconducting phases induced an attractive $U$ Hubbard interaction are studied using mean field theory. show, analytically and numerical diagonalization, that in lattices with open boundaries, enhanced order on corners or edges can appear, depending filling. finite samples at half filling, corner site transition temperature be much larger than bulk. A novel proximity effect thus arises for $T_{c,bulk} < T<T_{c,corner}$, creates nonzero tail show such tails should observable range $r$ values.

Edge-mode superconductivity in a two-dimensional topological insulator.
Topological superconductivity is an exotic state of matter that supports Majorana zero-modes, which have been predicted to occur in the surface states of three-dimensional systems, in the edge states of two-dimensional systems, and in one-dimensional wires. Localized Majorana zero-modes obey non-Abelian exchange statistics, making them interesting building blocks for topological quantum computi...
متن کاملTwo-dimensional chiral topological superconductivity in Shiba lattices
The chiral p-wave superconductor is the archetypal example of a state of matter that supports non-Abelian anyons, a highly desired type of exotic quasiparticle. With this, it is foundational for the distant goal of building a topological quantum computer. While some candidate materials for bulk chiral superconductors exist, they are subject of an ongoing debate about their actual paring state. ...
متن کاملSuperconductivity in the two-dimensional Hubbard model.
A refined variational wave function for the two-dimensional repulsive Hubbard model is studied numerically , with the aim of approaching the difficult crossover regime of intermediate values of U. The issue of a superconducting ground state with d-wave symmetry is investigated for an average electron density n ≈ 0.8 and for U = 8t. Due to finite-size effects a clear-cut answer to this fundament...
متن کاملSuperconductivity and the pseudogap in the two-dimensional Hubbard model.
Recently developed numerical methods have enabled the explicit construction of the superconducting state of the Hubbard model of strongly correlated electrons in parameter regimes where the model also exhibits a pseudogap and a Mott insulating phase. d(x(2)-y(2)) symmetry superconductivity is found to occur in proximity to the Mott insulator, but separated from it by a pseudogapped nonsupercond...
متن کاملFerromagnetism and triplet superconductivity in the two-dimensional Hubbard model
We review magnetic and superconducting instabilities in the t-t Hubbard model on the two-dimensional square lattice as obtained with functional one-loop renormalization group techniques. Special emphasis is put on ferromagnetic and triplet superconducting tendencies that could be relevant to the triplet superconductor Sr2RuO4. The layered perovskite oxide Sr2RuO4 may become the first well-estab...
